Sir Christopher Wren Hotel & Spa
This upscale hotel in a cluster of historic buildings overlooking the River Thames is 2 minutes’ walk from Windsor Castle and 5.4 miles from Windsor Great Park.
I visited Windsor for a business trip and I fall in love with Sir Christopher Wren Hotel. Most friendly and helpful receptionists ever, so lovely and great first impression of the hotel. Located on a walking street along the old town next to Thames River.
I had an amazing and romantic view full of swans. The hotel is an old building but well renovated into a 4-star hotel. Everything about the hotel was exceptional, and I don’t give praise lightly. It was clean, stylish, roomy and felt like home! ( My room was 310)
The room itself was well equipped and comfortable. Food was beyond good and great value for money and service in both places attentive and efficient. Breakfast was rich, with fresh fruits and juices, fried eggs, sliced salmons and everything you would want for breakfast.
The reception personnel was very helpful in advise on what to do in the city or anything I asked. They were polite and always in the best mood. Unfortunately, they didn’t have an option for a paid late check-out. So, I wish I knew this in advance, therefore I would have booked the room for some extra hours through the online booking process and wouldn’t get frustrated on the last day of my stay.
Do not neglect to try a massage or a spa therapy! All rooms and hotel facilities are smoking free.
One last tip: Don’t order Creme Brulee, unless you do want to get disappointed. And for all parents out there, this is not a friendly hotel for toddlers. Too many stairs!

Rooms range from traditional to plush. All offer free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and tea and coffeemaking equipment. Some have river views and sitting areas. Upgraded rooms include original features such as original wooden beams and floorboards. Room service is offered.
A fine-dining restaurant offers modern British cuisine and Sunday jazz. There’s also a drawing room serving afternoon tea, and a bar with a riverside terrace. A health club features an exercise room, a sauna and a spa.
You can choose your ideal room from their 133 unique collection of standard rooms or suites or apartments. Most bedrooms are in the Main House or just across the street in the Windsor House or Riverside House.
For a real traditional English experience, stay in the 17th-century Heritage House with its original wooden beams and floorboards. Next door is the Wren’s Club & Spa, which offers free access to guests.
It’s worth mentioning that it is freshly renovated in astonising contemporary style, both Windsor House and Riverside House.
Some Feature rooms and suites have glorious views over the Thames. Seven serviced apartments, just around the corner on Datchet Road, have handy kitchenettes, ideal for families or longer stays.

Take comfortable shoes: there’s a lot to see including the State Apartments, Drawings Gallery and Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House. Evensong at 5.15pm in St George’s Chapel is a beautiful experience. The Changing of the Guards takes place on alternate days at 11am, excluding Sundays. The best view is from the High Street. We offer castle tickets at the hotel so you can beat the queues; please ask at reception.

Cruise up the River Thames. You can arrange for a private cruise boat to pick you up from the hotel mooring. Public cruises are operated by French Brothers.
Stroll around Alexandra Gardens and you will be rewarded with a great view of Windsor Castle and the Thames Valley. Various family-friendly events are held in the gardens, including a ferris wheel in summer and open-air ice skating rink in winter.
