She is sharing her point of view about our blogging workshop for beginners in Athens. The blogging workshop was carefully designed to empower students’ confidence in order to use their blogging skills and express their own voice. The main focus of the workshop was to introduce all the professional characteristics and blogging tools for creating successful blog posts.

As a student of the Online WordPress course, which was designed and implemented by Social Hackers Academy and Diotima Center, I had the luck to attend the Blogging Workshop for Beginners by Areti Vassou. We had been informed that Areti had put a lot of effort into the course’s preparation. Therefore, I was looking forward to attending the workshop and I had previously arranged my schedule so that in no case I would miss it.

But what can you learn in a workshop that was designed to last 2 hours?

In almost all the seminars, courses, or workshops that I have attended in the past, it was impossible for the presenter to share with us a lot of information. So I was convinced that the workshop will cover key topics, with a brief reference to them, in fact, I never had the opportunity to attend an accelerated course able to satisfy adult students’ needs and provide deep levels of learning.

Blogging Workshop for Beginners

This particular Workshop, however, responded deservedly to the concept of an accelerated course. During the Blogging Workshop for Beginners, Areti was completely dedicated to its purpose and managed for 2 hours to reveal the blogging secrets and how to create successful content for articles on our blogs. So during the workshop, we learned that we can rock our blog posts following specific steps. Specifically:

• The basic concepts of blogging with a brief historical background and additional material for future study (as a beginner, any information here seemed very important to me)
• Why is it necessary to create a blog?
• The best ways to research our content (f.e keywords)
• The emphasis that should be given to the titles
• How the basic structure of the text should be
• Search engine optimization (SEO)
• The proper selection and proper use of photos on the blog
• The creation and importance of the content calendar for a successful content marketing strategy
• The Blogging community

Blogging Tools & Tips

While attending the Blogging Workshop for Beginners we all had the opportunity to increase our knowledge as we heard the ideas and thoughts from an expert in the field. Areti had great insight to share. She attended to flesh the text of the presentation out, not only with resources for additional reading such as articles but also suggested useful tools for creating successful content for articles on our blog, eg Canva, GTmetrix, and SEO Site Checkup.

Studying the notes the next days, I tried not to skip anything!

Οn the contrary, I researched whatever was unknown, although the presentation gradually covered all my questions. I tried to keep my mind open to every word and paragraph, but the biggest challenge was to be able to fully understand and acquire new information, in order to store them in my memory and recall for future study. However, the way and the structure of the presentation managed to cover exactly my needs and expectations.

Anduela is a passionate MSc graduate in Business Management, and she is a highly motivated and proactive person. Her recent studies abroad combined with recent work experience in SNFCC S.A, have greatly developed her communication, creativity and team-working skills. Blogging Workshop at SHA

Areti Vassou: Our two intensive Blogging Workshops at Social Hackers Academy have been successfully completed. The Workshops were part of the program “Women Going Digital” which was implemented with the support and funding of the Latsis Foundation. The program was designed by the Diotima Center, with long experience in women’s empowerment, and Social Hacker Academy, specializing in technological education.
 

During the Blogging Workshops the students learned how to:

• Create new content for their blog
• Apply keyword research
• Implement SEO best practices
• Adopt the best Content Marketing Strategies
• Brand Positioning for their blog
• Add different types of elements into their blog posts
• Get familiar with the blogging community & networking guidelines
• Explore potential blogging business opportunities

The main training goal was to enrich women’s digital soft & hard skills. According to research data, women are under-represented in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), facing difficulties both in their inclusion in the digital labor market and in their daily lives.

Blogging can support our efforts to create the life we want.

Once you decide to engage professionally then it pays off. When we are ready to let go of what is familiar in order to create a new chapter for us then we tend to open up in the wildness of the unknown.
