December Drifters

The daydreamers and the romantic souls are the December drifters that make magic happen in this world.

During the last months due to the extra daily pressure of the pandemic people have been experiencing new levels of stress. Would be lying if I was excluding myself from this stressful state of mind. Others might be dealing the ongoing circumstances with more grace than me but I am not ashamed to admit how tired and exhausted I feel after 10 months of agony in lockdown.

After noticing the people around me this obvious fact come to my attention: Successful and happy people have one thing in common, they have mastered the Art of Doing Nothing. Taking breaks and enjoying a pause can boost our mental health and stamina beyond expectation.

It’s true that we all have different levels of soft skills. Some people are naturally easy-going and charismatic in communication and in letting go of stress. Some are born with an inner button which they can turn into relaxing mode in seconds. But some others (may I add the majority of us) are putting a lot of effort to calm down and seeking ways to take a break from reality. Adulthood is a series of continuous obligations and crisis management with some periodic pauses of quiet times.

Taking a step back from what is happening could save our lives. Most of the times we tend to react at the top of our emotions and we lose the best energy in fighting against the stream of events. Have you ever thought that doing nothing could be the best decision ever?

The lost Art of Doing Nothing is like the art of pauses in music. Melody needs pauses to produce music. We need pauses during our never ending hectic way of living to find the music inside us. Don’t get me wrong… All I am saying is that our own pace needs the proper amount of time to keep our peace of mind unbroken.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. – Steve Jobs

Creative Christmas Gifts

This coloring poster “Christmas Tree” was the perfect Christmas gift for all my friends (and for myself). The entire family can participate and gradually we will have something to hang next to our Christmas tree. I love DIY activities because they help me to calm down my anxious mind.

The quality of the coloring poster is great. After you finish coloring you can decorate it or you can enjoy the 24 surprise games hidden on the paper ! A perfect Happy Holiday decoration to hang on the wall.

Great tip: By purchasing this poster, you make a gesture of solidarity and support Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins sans Frontières : 1€ is donated to fight child malnutrition.

Make Time to Play

I admit that in our busy adult lives it isn’t always easy to make time to play. The benefits though deserve all the efforts (and energy) we can invest to find that time to relax and play. While play is crucial for a child’s development, it is also beneficial for people of all ages.

No one questions that playing is important for children, but adults should realize that we need time to play, too. It is the perfect solution for fighting stress and anxiety.

Our brains need pauses! Many pauses during a day!

Playing with your spouse, co-workers, friends, or children is a wonderful way of keeping your serotonin at high levels. This can boost your creativity, your problem-solving skills, and your imagination. In other words, it improves mental health. Playtime is the perfect solution to forget about work and commitments, to take a break from reality and to be social in an unstructured, creative way.

In my opinion, all creative activities add joy to life and connect us to the world around us. Putting joy as a top priority not only stimulates the mind but also improves relationships and makes us feel young and energetic.

Even Within Your Blog

You may find it a bit controversial but think about your brand or company as a beacon of wisdom. We have one opportunity to tell our truth especially through the digital assets we own as media to communicate our message to the world. Brands & Companies that use their Corporate Blogging channels to build a strong communication channel with their selected audience, tend to invest in ethics and great character. The more we create a safe circle based on honesty, truth, dignity, kindness and ethics the merrier it gets for the people following our path.

It’s a good idea to see how outstanding brands are utilizing their blogs to communicate their mission, philosophy, and eventually how they can help people to improve their lives. How they do it? Think about it for a second… Everything starts with one major principle: deep self-knowledge. Before you publish your corporate blog define the reasons you need it and the goals you wish to reach. Having a solid mission can help your blog stand out for the right reasons in front of the right people.

Treat your blog as an extension of your life’s purpose. Within your blog’s content, introduce your philosophy & ethics, address company news, updates, presentations, product guides, industry topics, expert tips, researches, books, financial data, scientific resources, videos, interviews, seminars, workshops, etc. A well structured corporate blog can bring traffic to your website and the right attention to your company and not only that.

The digital world needs more people of character that bring us authentic inspiration.

Dare to show your true colors!

The Unseen Everyday Heroes

A disability is any kind of condition that makes it more difficult for a person to do a variety of activities or interact with the world. There are a plethora of conditions that make a person unable to live a normal life. Also, a lot of disabilities are not obvious and society tends to treat people with special needs with a well-behaved discomfort.

That’s the painful truth. Nobody wants or wishes to be a disabled person. Unfortunately, although most countries are doing their very best to establish better living conditions for the majority of disabled people, the society and communities around them are not always open-minded or respectful towards them.

Let’s take my case as an example. Only my close family members and friends know that I have a severe disability both in my arms and legs. The last 20 years had been a living hell due to tremendous pain in the bones and joints. Every morning, my days start with a certain set of exercises just to make my joints function. For every step I take, the pain is killing my brain little by little. In the good days I can walk without the help of my cane, but in the bad days … let’s say that I have the time to read all the new books that are published each year, lying in my chair or my bed.

You may wonder, why I share this personal story today. On 3 December, is International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD). It was about time to unveil my bittersweet story about my disability. Everything started 20 years ago but an innocent question, from a colleague, triggered the decision to share my life story.

My disability to walk never stopped me to do anything in life, but society did on several occasions. We are living in a world where not being young and healthy are punished as the ultimate faults and sins.
